So-why did we start BROW BAR?

Updated: Aug 15, 2018

So how did BROW BAR come to be?

After 13 years working as a project manager and account manager in healthcare IT, I decided I was ready to make a change. I had just had my second child, and really wanted to be able to spend more time with my boys while they were still little. At the time, I had no idea what my next year was going to look like. I was ready to be a stay at home mom for awhile! Like many other mamas out there, after having a baby, I was finding it more and more difficult to have time to get myself ready in the morning. I was busy chasing around the little ones, and more worried about if they ate their breakfast and brushed their teeth than if I looked in the mirror before leaving the house. One of my closest friends told me about microblading. I will be honest, at first, I didn't think it was for me! But, I Googled it anyway, just out of curiosity, and WOW. I got SO excited! I had to do it! I was always filling in my brows. Brow pencil and mascara were my two 'must haves' before leaving the house (or answering the front door for that matter!). The thought of never having to spend time coloring in my brows (only to have them disappear half way through the day) again was heavenly! The thought of them always looking good? Mind-blowing!

After my treatment all I could think about was how awesome my brows looked, and how I wanted to make this available to women in KC in a way that nobody else was offering. I wanted to open a studio that was upscale, modern, relaxing and private at the same time. Location would be key! The idea of BROW BAR was born, but oh man, did I have a lot of other hurtles to cross. The biggest, and most important, was convincing my dear friend Nicole to go into business with me, and go to school to become a Missouri licensed cosmetic tattoo artist! Nicole is the most talented artist I know. Her creativity had always impressed me, but her attention to detail and meticulousness were the qualities I knew would make her an extraordinary microblading artist. I was so incredibility excited when she agreed! I know she was really nervous, but she was ready to do something different too. The timing of it all made it, well, meant to be.

As anyone who has ever started their own business knows, it's not easy. There are so many things to think about and learn. It is always exciting, but sometimes scary! At BROW BAR, every business decision we make is centered around providing the best experience and highest quality service to our clients. That is what started this idea in the first place, and it is what drives us every day. We have so many exciting things planned for BROW BAR, and are so grateful for the love and support we have received from our friends, family and city.
